Valentine Food Drive

February 2014

VALENTINE’S FOOD DRIVE:  NOW THROUGH FEB 21st Join Riverside’s Valentines Food Drive to help the Crisis Ministry prevent hunger in our community! Please bring food to Riverside’s lobby now through Valentine’s Day.  The Crisis Ministry suggests the following foods and asks that you not bring glass containers or cans: cereal – hot or cold, canned proteins (tuna, salmon, chicken, chili), canned fruits (low-fructose), canned potatoes & vegetables (low-sodium), 1 or 2 lbs. pasta, peanut butter, boxed macaroni and cheese, honey (in plastic container)shelf-stable milk (like Parmalat), and dried beans (1-lb. bags).

You are also welcome to donate by check payable to ‘Crisis Ministry’ with ‘Food’ in the memo line and deposit it in the PTO box in the front office.

Last year the Riverside community collected 942 pounds of food plus the equivalent of another 473 pounds of food equivalent in donations ($245 of which came from a bake sale which McCaffrey’s then matched, the balance in donations from Riverside families).   Each month more than 1,400 households visit the Crisis Ministry for help with food and emergency assistance.  Please contact Liz Erickson at lizeri@gmail.com or Elizabeth Sims-Pottle at simspottle@yahoo.com with any questions.
